Traditional Japanese decorative hagoita produced by Kyugetsu, one of Japan’s well-known traditional doll makers specializing in seasonal dolls, Hina dolls, and classic Japanese decorative crafts.

This elegant piece features a beautifully dressed kimono lady created in the classic oshie hagoita style, where padded textile elements are layered to form a rich three-dimensional composition. The figure wears a red kimono with floral embroidery, decorative cords, and ornate textile details, while holding a small folding fan in a graceful pose.

The reverse side features a hand-painted plum blossom design and refers to Aizu kiri, traditional Aizu paulownia wood, which is valued in Japanese craftwork for its light weight and refined appearance.

Hagoita are traditional Japanese decorative paddles associated with New Year celebrations and wishes for protection, beauty, and good fortune. Decorative oshie hagoita became especially appreciated as seasonal ornaments and collector’s pieces representing classic Japanese elegance.
